Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the CompliChef restaurant platform ("Platform"), including table reservations, click & collect ordering, point of sale (POS), kitchen display, online payments, and all related services provided by CompliChef ("we", "us", "our").

By using the Platform — whether as a customer placing an order or booking a table, or as a venue operator managing your restaurant — you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.

1. Definitions

  • "Customer" means any person who uses the Platform to make a table reservation, place a click & collect order, or interact with a venue's services.
  • "Venue" or "Venue Operator" means any restaurant, café, or hospitality business that uses the Platform to manage bookings, orders, or point of sale.
  • "Order" means any click & collect order, dine-in order, or other purchase placed through the Platform.
  • "Booking" means any table reservation made through the Platform.

2. Use of the Platform

2.1 Customer Use

Customers may use the Platform to:

  • Make table reservations at participating venues.
  • Browse menus and place click & collect orders.
  • Make payments via Stripe, PayPal, or pay on collection where available.

By submitting your name, phone number, or email address you consent to the venue and CompliChef processing that information in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

2.2 Venue Use

Venue Operators may use the Platform to manage reservations, process orders, operate the POS and kitchen display system, configure payment gateways, set up SMTP email settings, and access analytics. Venue Operators are responsible for the accuracy of their menu, pricing, availability, and for fulfilling orders and bookings.

3. Table Reservations

  • Reservations are subject to the venue's availability and cancellation policy.
  • The cancellation window is set by each venue and displayed at the time of booking.
  • We send confirmation and reminder emails on behalf of the venue. You agree to receive these communications when making a booking.
  • No-shows or late cancellations may be subject to the venue's own policies.

4. Click & Collect Orders

  • Orders placed through click & collect are a contract between you and the venue, not CompliChef.
  • Prices displayed are set by the venue and may change without notice.
  • Once an order has been confirmed and payment taken, cancellation is at the venue's discretion.
  • You will receive email notifications (order confirmation, preparing status) if you provide an email address.
  • A collection number will be provided — please quote this when collecting your order.

5. Payments

  • Online payments are processed securely through third-party providers (Stripe and/or PayPal). CompliChef does not store your full card details.
  • Where "pay on collection" is offered, payment is made directly to the venue at the time of collection.
  • All prices include VAT where applicable unless stated otherwise by the venue.
  • Refunds for click & collect orders are handled by the venue. Please contact the venue directly for refund requests.

6. Email Communications

By providing your email address when placing an order or making a booking, you agree to receive transactional emails including:

  • Booking confirmations and reminders.
  • Order confirmation invoices.
  • "Your order is being prepared" notifications.

These are transactional (not marketing) emails necessary for the fulfilment of your order or booking. Venues may send these from their own email server (SMTP).

7. Venue Operator Responsibilities

  • Venue Operators are solely responsible for the quality, safety, and legality of the food and services they provide.
  • Venue Operators must ensure their menu information, allergen details, pricing, and availability are accurate and up to date.
  • Venue Operators are responsible for configuring their own payment gateway credentials and SMTP email settings.
  • CompliChef is not liable for any loss arising from incorrect venue configuration.

8. Intellectual Property

All content, design, logos, and software on the Platform are owned by CompliChef or its licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, or distribute any part of the Platform without our written consent.

9. Limitation of Liability

  • CompliChef acts as a technology platform connecting customers with venues. We are not a party to any contract between you and the venue.
  • We do not guarantee that the Platform will be available at all times or free from errors.
  • To the maximum extent permitted by law, CompliChef's total liability to you is limited to the fees you have paid to us (if any) in the 12 months preceding the claim.
  • We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

10. Account & Security

  • Venue Operators must keep their login credentials and API keys confidential.
  • You are responsible for all activity under your account.
  • Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate access to the Platform at any time if we reasonably believe you have breached these Terms or for any other lawful reason. Venue Operators may cancel their subscription in accordance with their subscription agreement.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates the latest revision. Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
